get involved . . .
New England Region
WOCN Membership:
WOCN Membership is open to all nurses who are involved in
providing wound, ostomy and continence patient care. RNs and WOC
Nurses who have graduated from accredited programs. Member benefits may be
viewed online at the WOCN
website. Dues are $125 payble to WOCN.
The New England Region Wound, Ostomy
& Continence Nursing Society is the local affiliate for
Maine, Vermont,
New Hampshire, Massachusetts,
Connecticut, and Rhode Island. If you are an active member
of the
national WOCN Society, you automatically become an active member of New
England Region
WOCN when you select 7F on the membership form. No additional
dues are required.

New
England Region
Committee Opportunites:
The New
England Region
Board is currently seeking active members interested in
committee work. Details of the duties and responsibilities of
offices and committees is outlined in the Bylaws.
Participation on a committee is a great way to "get your feet wet" in a
leadership position within your professional organization. The
future of the New England Region WOCN depends on continued commitment
from our
membership.
Committee participation is also a great way to earn PGP points for
recertification!!
Meetings
& Conferences:
The
New England Region WOCN holds regional meetings three times a year in
conjunction with educational conferences. Periodic area meetings
are held in Connecticut & Maine.
In addition
to the WOCN Annual Conference, the New England Region holds conferences
several times a year.

Certification:
The
Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing
Certification Board (WOCNCB) provides a national certification exam for
entry level into the field for graduates of accredited educational
programs. Board certification is a highly valued means of
credentialing for practitioners of WOC nursing. Certification is
valid for five years.
Recertification
may be obtained by reexamination or through the
Professional Growth Program (PGP). This program is based upon a
point system derived from participation in continuing education,
program or project development, publication, teaching, research,
professional organizations involvement, and academic education.
