New England Region WOC/ET Nurse of the Year


 
The New England Region of the WOCN each year selects a member as the WOC/ET of the year.   This great honor is bestowed on members who satisfy professional criteria and make a positive contribution to the practice of WOC/ET nursing.   Award recipients are traditionally honored at Fall Conference, prior to the start of the Youth Rally Auction.

Each spring a call for nominations goes out to the membership (please refer to the nomination form below).  Packets of information are sent to each nominee when their name is received, with a congratulatory letter.  Nominees are requested to write a short narrative on their practice and obtain two letters of recommendation.  This is then forwarded back to the public relations committee for review.

The Public Relations Committee Chair and the most recent three award recipients review and grade each nominee according to the criteria below.  Presentation of the award occurs at Fall Conference.

The outstanding WOC/ET Nurse of the year award is presented to the nominee who:

       1. Has made a positive contribution to the WOC/ET nursing 
           practice.

       2. Demonstrates professional commitment to their WOC/ET
           Nursing role.

       3. Displays the following qualities In interpersonal interactions
          with patients, families, and other health team members:
          respect, dignity, sensitivity, empathy, and concern.

       4. Maintains, develops and shares clinical WOC/ET Nursing
          knowledge and skills.

       5. Is involved with professional/community organizations,
           including membership in the New England Region and Board 
           certification.

       6. Serves as a role model for peers and others.

The New England Region Public Relations Committee welcomes your comments and requests your nominations for the 2008 Outstanding WOC/ET of the Year.   Nominations for 2008 will be accepted after January 1, 2008.  For more information or to make a nomination, , Membership Chairperson.
