Hello Everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.
My name is Jill Trelease and I am the Financial Officer for the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board.
I have been with the Board since 2012 and initially my role was as the Liaison to the Foot Care Committee. I began my role as Financial Officer in 2015.
So who am I? Well…I have lived in Rhode Island for several years and only a few minutes away from the amazing Tina McDonald. I have been a nurse since 1999 – it was my second degree, my first was in Languages with a minor in International Law. I have been a CWON for about 10 years and a CFCN for about 5 years. Inpatient was my first realm and I established two inpatient programs at Steward Health Care, ultimately I added the founding of a small outpatient clinic with two wonderful physicians. Last year I finally finished my Masters Degree – I won’t lie it took me almost a decade of starting, stopping, stalling…and finishing. Now I am a Family Nurse Practitioner.
I also changed my job slightly and I am a Program Director at the Morton Wound Center; where I also see patients and do some inpatient consulting. And Hospice. I do Hospice for Homecare on the occasional evening (my mother was a Hospice nurse and this is how I honor her memory).
When there is WOCNCB news I will share it with you — So here are some tidbits
1. Volunteers are needed!!! If you have maintained your “C” the Continence certification the WOCNCB is in need of your knowledge and time to write exam questions. It is such a great opportunity to engage with your peers and learn about the process as well as help your profession continue to grow in this dynamic healthcare landscape. 2. The Wound Treatment Associate. The first certification exam will be coming soon! An outline for the exam was diligently worked on during the winter, and questions have been written over the past 6 weeks. A total of 243 items have gone through their first review this month before they are polished, reviewed again and put into the exam. I was fortunate to be part of both processes and I am excited to see how the first group tests. When I know more I will share.
3. The Ostomy Flash cards are done!!!! A wonderful new study aid to look forward to.
